Swirls style guide was developed as an athleisure apparel program to support the upcoming movie, 'Minions The Rise of Gru'. Developing the juxtaposition between modern streetwear and the 1970's vibe that serves as the setting of the movie, was fun and challenging. The Swirls mood is inspired by 1970's graphic design and mod culture, playing into bold graphic elements and high contrast stripes. To modernize the overall mood and feel, optical intrusions and soft gradients with a fresh and bold color palette were combined to create fun, fresh, story-telling graphics and patterns.
